Stella’s Touch Application
Stella’s Touch is a Paws-Ability program dedicated to assisting residents of Brunswick County with the care of their pets in a time of emergency, serious illness or injury. We know how important our pet's companionship and love is to our own well-being, and Stella’s Touch may be able to help keep a pet in their home in such cases.
If you are in need of assistance, please read the qualifications below to determine if you qualify. If so, you may complete the application below and we will contact you to determine your eligibility. You will be asked to provide proof of financial disability, We will make an initial assessment, and communicate with you and your vet about your pet.
Our grants are typically between $100 and $500. Decisions are based on several factors, including medical urgency, financial need, eligibility, and available funding.
Animals must be spayed or neutered to qualify for assistance.
Paws-Ability must be granted access to your pet’s veterinary records, including medical history and current diagnosis, treatment plan, and cost estimate. By submitting your application, you are agreeing to grant that access.
Our funds are limited and we simply DO NOT have the funds to pay for general and/or routine veterinary care. Routine care is defined as wellness exams, vaccines (rabies, distemper, bordatella, etc), heartworm tests and preventative, and flea/tick preventative. In addition, we do not cover the cost of end of life services. Assistance is limited to one time per household. Our priority for accepting an application for funding will continue to be a critical situation confirmed by a licensed veterinarian.
Your application for assistance must be approved by Paws-Ability in advance of treatment. The pet must be expected to recover and have a good quality of life after treatment. This will be confirmed with the treating veterinarian. Following treatment, the owner must be able to provide care and pay for future medical expenses.
If you are eligible, Stella's Touch will help you pay for certain costs, determined in conjunction with your veterinarian. We pay veterinarians directly and do not reimburse families for costs already paid. You will be expected to pay a percentage of your costs.
We regret that funding limits us from helping all applicants.
