How we've spent our money in 2008
- Cat Tails – tables to hold cages to make it possible for volunteers to clean and keep the adoption center within NC state requirements.
- Joy Makers – surgery for 2 abandoned cats with painful dental needs.
- SOAR – provided funds to build a whelping house to house mother dogs while having and nursing puppies until they are adopted.
- TailsUWin – Schmeigle was a cruelty seizure in Oak Island that had to have his leg amputated. He has been adopted and is happy!
- SOAR – 3 igloo insulated dog houses provided for their outdoor kennels.
- Paws Place – new refrigerator to replace broken down equipment that held food and medical supplies for their dogs
- Paws Place – new washing machine to help keep bedding clean for all the dogs.
- TailsUWin –Gracie.Starved and abandoned who bore 12 pups, with only two that would survive. She had emergency surgery for Pyometra, had pneumonia, and heartworms. When brought in, she could not stand. Today, she is healthy, gaining weight and considered “precious” by all her caregivers. Gracie will soon be available for adoption.
- SOAR - help set up a veterinary clinic room at the shelter for their volunteer vet to help care for dogs and cats at the shelter.
- Joy Makers - medications for shelter cats' heartworm treatment and flea treatment..
- SOAR– Gracie, abandoned, weak, pregnant. She was the 1st to use the whelping house Paws-Ability payed for to help mothers in need. Gracie is so very loving, gentle and sweet and such a wonderful mother to her 10 babies! Gracie has been spayed and will be available to some lucky family soon. All puppies will be spayed or neutered and receive necessary vaccines before adoptions.
- Tails U Win- small kitten needed an injured eye removed. Has been adopted!
- Noble Shepherd Rescue - veterinary fees for Lilli, a white shepherd puppy pulled from the shelter, very ill with Parvo. Has now been adopted!
- Paws Place - Sammy is a little 10 lb dog, found, severly injured by other dogs. Emergency veterinary care and medications provided. Currently recuperating in foster care.
- Paws Place – Corona has been spayed, received shots, exam and medication for infections. She has been adopted and doing great!
- TailsUWin – heartworms treatment for Moxley. She was pulled from
Brunswick County Animal Shelter and has been adopted.
- Paws Place – Percy is a really large dog, so sick it took 2 people to carry him into the shelter, found in a ditch unable to walk. Treated for heartworms, He is currently living indoors in a foster home where he is adored. They now want to adopt him! Not sure who is the luckiest, Percy or his new family!
- TailsUWin – Riley, abandoned after being hit by a car. Leg was amputated. He is currently living with his very own forever family and busy being spoiled!
- Paws Place - Lobo gets needed eye surgery to remove non-cancerous tumor.Has been adopted into a loving home. Lobo’s new family is building a new sign for Paws Place as their gift for helping them find a new pet!
- SOAR – veterinary care for Skippy. a Shih Tzu, abandoned, with eye infections, ear infections, matts and tangles so thick he was sheered like a sheep to then show open sores on his little body is now recuperating in a foster home until ready for adoption.
- Paws Place - Cindy gets ACL surgery and is doing great. She is so happy to be able to run and play again and is available for adoption.
- Paws Place - Wheatie, a sheepdog mix, came in so terrified and matted with tangles he could not walk and had to be carried. He was groomed to remove the knots, burrs, fleas and ticks that covered his body. He was neutered, received shots and was groomed. He is doing so wonderfully in his new forever home! His gift from his new family was a new name, Benji. They want him to have no part of that old life to carry forward!
- Paws Place - Reba was spayed . Is a very sweet girl and is now ready for adoption.
- Joy Makers – medical supplies for abandoned senior cats.
- Paws Place – Bindi gets acl surgery For those of you who were at Wag Shag, you will remember that Bindi won the “best kisser” contest! Bindi will be ready to pucker up for some really lucky family soon!
- Paws-Ability adoption boards have seen nearly 100 dogs and cats find new homes. These boards are a great measurement tool for Brunswick County adoptions from all our shelters and rescue groups
These funds were dispersed upon receipt of grant requests from 501 C3 animal welfare organizations located in Brunswick County requesting funds for needs that are above and beyond normal business operating expenses.
