Kitten College
Wednesday, October 2nd 2024
10:30am - 3:00pm
Shallote Presbyerian Church
5070 Mh Rourk Dr., Shallote, NC
The National Kitten College is a nonprofit organization offering vital support to animal shelters and rescues working to save neonatal kittens. Through education, resource sharing, and training their goal is to decrease euthanasia while increasing quality of life. Kitten College is committed to fostering a compassionate community, dedicated to saving the lives of the most vulnerable felines and ensuring they receive high quality care.
We are pleased to have the opportunity to welcome Marnie Russ, the founder and Executive Director of the National Kitten College, who will present Taking the Fear out of Bottle Feeding, Basic Kitten Care, and Program Development for rescues and shelters.
Marnie is a recognized expert on caring for at-risk kittens. In 2023, she assisted UC Davis and the University of Wisconsin in updating their neonatal kitten guidelines for mass distribution. Marnie developed Kitten College at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington in Arlington, VA in 2017 to help their foster caregivers raise happy, healthy kittens. The first kitten nursery of its kind, AWLA went from saving 92 kittens a year in 2016 to over 1500 kittens in 2023. Since its inception, the Kitten College program has been implemented in a growing number of shelters and rescues across the country. In 2024 Kitten College became an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the lives of kittens everywhere.
