ADOPTION SUCCESS STORIES

THE PAWS-ABILITY ADOPTION BOARDS HELP ANNIE FIND A NEW HOME TODAY!
Cindy Tarantino stopped by the Scrapbook Addict in Shallotte to show off the adoption board. Sande Gunter, owner of Scrapbook Addict in Shallotte, took one look at a dog on the board named Annie and said she was looking for a dog just like that! She immediately called Brunswick County Animal Services to see if Annie was still there. Sure enough, Annie was waiting for her. Sande flew out the door and drove straight to the shelter. Annie is now called SCRUFFY and has a wonderful new home with Sande. Last I heard she was getting a bath and a biscuit!

Thanks to the Paws-Ability committee responsible for the adoption board, Scruffy has found her forever home!  The adoption board has seen a total of over 100 homeless animals find their own forever homes! What a wonderful ending.

The Paws-Ability's Dog Board touted Angel this way:  HELLO!!! My name is Angel.  My owner mommy recently went to be with the angels so I am now at the shelter.  Angel now has a new home!!!
This was Rosebud's write-up for the Paws-Abilitiy's Cat Board: Rosebud's my name and rubbing is my game. I have never met anyone that I didn't want to rub against. I am such a LOVEBUG!!!! I am talkative and very outgoing. I get along with all the cats here and I am very curious.  Rosebud now has a new home and is loving her new owner!!

This is a copy of the letter to Paws-Ability's president, Janie Withers - It's really obvious just how happy Bindi and her forever home are:
First of all, I have to thank you for making it possible for us to get the information on Bindi.  Quite honestly,  I was going to wait till after the holiday's before adopting another dog.  Because we loved Natasha so much and because Pit Bulls are such a misunderstood breed with little to no chance of being adopted I wanted to adopt another.  My only reservation was that some are so big and strong I wasn't sure I could handle it.  When we saw Bindi she came running over and gave us kisses - she had spunk and yet she was small which was perfect.  I couldn't stop thinking of her all weekend and - the rest is history.
It amazes me how good she is.  I have never adopted an older dog and as cute as puppies are I really did not want to go thru the housebreaking - chewing shoes routine.  Bindi is completly housebroken - and never chews up anything - it amazes me that she made such an easy adjustment.
I had to run down to Florida for a few days and my husband (Hugo) was left in charge.  He took her to his card game on Saturday night and she was a big hit.  Gave kisses to all the guys (I'm not sure they were all thrilled about that) then climbed up on Hugo's lap and put her paws on the table.  Hugo got teased that he was teaching her the game.  They put some pillows on the floor for her, gave her a bowl of water and some dog cookies and she was very content.
I would have to say that Bindi's favorite thing is sleeping in our bed. It’s as if she simply cannot believe it.  I think it has finally sunk in that this is her forever home!  After the holidays, she will go to obedience lessons- more to build her confidence than anything else.
Yesterday she had her picture taken with Santa at Capeside Animal Hospital sponsored by one of the rescue groups.  She loved Santa!
Bindi is the new mascot for my neighbors new business in Waterford “Just Dogs”.
She loves car rides – sits like a little lady!
Thanks again for helping us find Bindi.  This union was meant to be!!!!!!  Mary Ann & Hugo

Our president was at the SOAR shelter in Southport on June 1, 2009 to deliver supplies that were donated to SOAR.  While there, a couple drove up to meet a dog.  They said  they lived in Calabash and were at the movie theatre in Shallotte last week.  When leaving, they saw a poster at the theatre with a picture of a dog that they fell in love with.  Clyde was on the Paws-Ability adoption board and now has a forever home of his own, directly because of the Paws-Ability adoption board!  What a great story for Clyde and his new family.
Thank you Ronna Graham and Leigh Pierce for maintaining the adoption boards!  You both deserve a giant pat on the back for your hard work on those boards.
If any of you are at the movie theatre, be sure to tell the manager thank you for the great space she has given us for the boards.  This space could be just what is needed to place many dogs and cats into forever homes.

Sadie’s story began when she was spotted at Brunswick Animal Control by Charlene Doolittle.  Charlene asked Janie to go by to check her out.  Terrified and dirty, Sadie sat so alone that Janie could not leave her there.   So begins Sadie’s journey to a new life!  A quick trip to the vet saw Sadie got all her shots and a quick once over.  An offer of foster care from Charlene and Allen Doolittle really began the new life.  Sadie blossomed and when she was ready for adoption, Charlene cried.  These were tears of joy now for she knows that Sadie and her new mother Beverly love each other.
